2018 Wedding Trends Predictor

Peer into our crystal ball to see into wedding trend future! Sure, this year seems to have just started, but planners always have to stay ahead of the game! Our brides come to us with dates a year or more out, and it’s our graciously accepted goal to know what’s to come when their day finally arrives!

Pantone’s Color of the Year:

We were so excited when Pantone announced Greenery as the color of 2017. We also must admit, it was a little unexpected! Fully taking advantage of leafy green centerpieces and accents, our florists are saving every stem for this trend. Currently, we see a lot of pastels and neutrals dominating the fashion and beauty industry, but we’re anticipating some bright hues to come our way next year. To counteract what’s trending this year, expect bold pink, burnt orange, and other sunset shades to make their way into the trending colors. We also expect metallics to play a fun twists on typical colors to create a chromatic palette of neutrals that pop in any setting!

Dreamy Themes

This year is giving us some major rustic vibes for wedding trends and we expect 2018 to bring us some ethereal themes. As we mentioned, metallics are a versatile trend right now an we predict a major incorporation of royal gold, pewter, and bronze in everything from table settings to decor. To soften these metal vibes we expect an overabundance of softness such as rows of twinkling lights or hanging decor reminiscent of clouds. Florals will take on this trend by jumping ship from the traditional pinks and reds and adding in yellows, purples, and succulents for that surreal feel.

Gowns

From ballgowns to fitted lace, this year the wedding dress is seeing a lot of changes. The fairy tale gown is losing the puffy sleeves and slipping on a fantastic collaboration of neutrals, patterns, and even colors! We expect to see half cut dresses with a completely different top than the bottom. Think of a delightful blush adorned in intricate lace and then finished with a bold, flowing skirt. Many of the crystal embellishments are on their way out and soft fabrics that complement the body are moving in. Delicate details fitting necklines and shoulders that fall into a breezy chiffon by the waist are slowly making their way to designer’s runways and 2018 will be their full wedding debut!

Let Them Eat Cake!

The always evolving wedding cake is going to make a huge leap in 2018. We expect traditional to become deconstructed and cakes to take the form of pies, cupcakes, fruit layers, and new twists. We even predict some completely off beat cakes that aren’t even desserts at all! The traditional white fondant is out and delicious, decadent cakes are moving in covered in cream, berries, nuts, dripping icing, fruits, and so much more!
